The claims concern legal authority, privacy protections and the relationship between state licensing agencies and federal departments.
What CDLIS does
The Commercial Driver’s License Information System supports state-to-state checks intended to prevent a driver from holding more than one commercial license and to help licensing agencies review qualification and driving-history information. The litigation concerns access to the database; it does not by itself cancel a driver’s CDL.
