What agencies reported
Recent enforcement actions summarized by FreightWaves documented more than 1,250 violations, 159 vehicles placed out of service and 48 drivers placed out of service across reported operations in New York, Nevada and Arizona. The campaigns addressed different local risks rather than one nationwide inspection event.
New York height awareness
New York’s campaign emphasized preventing bridge and overpass strikes. Drivers must know the actual vehicle and load height, verify commercial routing and treat posted clearances as operational limits—not suggestions. Consumer navigation alone is not a safe routing system for a commercial vehicle.
Pre-trip and recordkeeping lesson
Confirm vehicle condition, license and medical status, hours-of-service records, operating authority and route restrictions before dispatch. An inspection found after movement can create delay, cost and safety exposure that a disciplined pre-trip review might prevent.
