The CDL skills test includes vehicle inspection, basic control skills and an on-road test. The vehicle must represent the class and endorsements you seek.
Kentucky State Police administers the state process. Use its official CDL page for the latest application, document, fee, appointment and testing instructions.
All applicants generally take General Knowledge. Additional tests depend on the vehicle, brake system and endorsements sought, such as Combination Vehicles, Air Brakes, Passenger, School Bus, Tanker, HazMat or Doubles/Triples.
ELDT timing depends on the credential. Applicable Class A or B, Passenger and School Bus training is verified before the skills test; HazMat theory training is verified before the HazMat knowledge test. Confirm applicability through FMCSA.
